In Today's News

1. Scotland Voted No yesternight/early this morning. I waited all night to hear it called. After all was said and done, I mean ballots counted, First Minister Alex Salmond finally appeared. All night, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon held the front. Heard today Salmond may be resigning after yesterday's result. Well, considering he was absent all day, ok.

After much anticipation, Glasgow's number came in: Yes, but with a 194,779 (53.5 percent). Which was not a good number considering it was the heart of the Yes campaign.
And in case you're wondering why you should have been invested in the election, this writer breaks it down with her Wetin Concern Scotland With Naijas In Jand? article. The writer's head were there!

I must say I am glad that Scots didn't break the Act of Union. However, truth be told, close to half of Scotland wants independence. The country is divided. This is something the PM, and the Queen -- in the comfort of her palace and with no true constitutional power, have to deal with later today. Things have to change. I can't wait to see the voters' demographic and their individual polling numbers.

2. CNN names Nigerians as having the sixth sexiest accent in the world, right after the Queen's English. At first I was all swirly inside. Then, I was like "wait a minute, like there's an official Nigerian accent. Kwagini, igbotic influenced English dey different from Yoruba infused English." But, I got seduced by the following words: "Dignified, with just a hint of willful naivete, the deep, rich "oh's" and "eh's" of Naija bend the English language without breaking it, arousing tremors in places other languages can't reach." I forgot all my hold on's and got swirly again!

3. In the most idiotic, racist piece ever, Alessandra Stanley wrote a review on ABC's upcoming "How to Get Away With Murder where she basically called Shonda Rhimes an angry black woman who writes angry black female characters. Nice job, Stanley. A couple things, when you can't differentiate between a creator and a producer, as a chief TV critic, you can't be helped! Also, Clair Huxtable is NOT "benign and reassuring ... the serene, elegant wife, mother and dedicated lawyer on The Cosby Show." In fact, I will let her talk to you instead.
