My New and Concurrent Love-Fest with TV

Lost Girl
Synopsis: This Canadian science fiction beauty and my current obsession tells the tale of supernatural seductress succubus Bo, who feeds off both people’s sexual energy and life force (chi), and her various friends in the fae community. The series basically runs around Bo’s search for her identity – for she had been abandoned at birth by her biological parents and her foster parents/experiences were not  exactly poster board material –, ability control, and her hero ego – she has this constant ache to help both humans and fae. Fae are supernatural beings with extraordinary powers predating the rise of humans who usually keep themselves hidden, and have worked hard to make humanity believe that they are just myths.
Lost Girl premiered September 12, 2010 on Canada's Showcase, July 14, 2011 on Australia's Sci Fi, September 1, 2011 on the United Kingdom's Syfy, and January 16, 2012 on the United States' Syfy. Its third season isn't over yet but it has been renewed for season four.

Strong female leads and concrete female friendship and relationship: For this reason alone, Lost Girl stands out. One, it has an independent female protagonist, one whose existence and relevance isn't in relation to her fellow male characters. You cannot argue it, Bo is amazing! Two, the incredible relationship between Bo and Kenzi. I cannot count how many Hollywood portrayal of female friendship include bickering, pulling each others' hair, being mean to each other, in the name of being coy, and subtexting. Lost Girl has a magic which is Bo and Kenzi. It is high time people see on their TV that female platonic friends do tolerate each other. And then, there is Bo and Lauren's relationship: the most tactful queer relationship I ever have seen on TV. In fact, I ship Doccubus wholeheartedly.
Kenzie: this one-liner genius continually keeps my laughing muscles functional. She and Bo have this incredible symbiotic relationship that works for me.
Costumes: bless the hearts of the wardrobe people who continue to make revealing leather apparels for Bo! Her constant “Boobs-O-Clock” or Fanservice (depending on how you want to swing) has a fan base of its own. All other female characters also continually tell the time with their upper anatomy. Let us be real, the whole show runs on fanservice. Also, there is Kenzie’s vast wardrobe of various clothing and wigs to change her appearance at will. Shall I go on?
Lauren: My Dr. Hotpants, the enigma of all things geeky! Her soulful smirk and puppy eyes just adorably tears at your heart as she spews out scientific whatsays! Until I met her, I never knew geeky turn-on exists.

'No' point:  Dyson – I wish he will just grow up and be the alpha male he is supposed to be. All he does is shirtlessly whine and pine. All he wants to be, according to Tamsin is "half lion, half eagle, and full a-hole" . Honestly, I think a part of me is pissed at him because he isn't man enough for Bo. His part in the triangle always dregs up my stomach's content. I wish the writers will work on his character and make him more macho-like.

P.s. should you write this show off because of its bold depiction of sexuality, you will be missing out on the most amazing blend of fantasy with drama and comedy and love, and a show that everyone with their extended family, including dear soon-to-be departed, toothless grandma, is watching.

Suits
Synopsis: this series follows Harvey Specter, Mike Ross, Jessica Pearson, Donna Paulsen, Rachel Zane and everything that goes on in New York's Pearson/Hardman law firm. The second season ended on February 21 to return in the Summer.

'Yes' Points: the series' sophisticated feel. “Quite simply, Suits is as good as it gets. Sophisticated storytelling, sharp dialogue, and award-worthy performances make this show a cornerstone of our original programming lineup,” said USA co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber in a joint statement. Also, the series reminds me of House but with lawyers.
Harvey: six months ago, I had a torrid affair with Harvey Specter, in my mind of course. Harvey Specter is Don Draper's better off. Two years ago, I finally gave in to the Mad Men buzz and checked it out.  But, I never hit it off with Don. I gave him a season worth of time but my discomfort with him never improved. Don is an arrogant character with no redeeming qualities. He thinks himself the supreme man and no one corrects him. So, he treats the women around him like shit. Perhaps, I am being too hard on him. I just could not relate with his archaic world. Then, I met Harvey Specter. Harvey has that arrogant feel that Don has but Harvey also has Donna, Jessica and the 21st century! Viola, the combination of which works!
Costume: suits, suits, suits, tuxedo, suits, tuxedo, suits, skirts and shirts, suits, gown, suits. Sophisticated and Fifth Avenue worthy. Crisp, delacreme and orgasmic!
Donna: Holy mother of all amazingness, you cannot help but love Harvey's legal secretary and close confidant. Her funny Donna banter na to-die-for. According to wikia.com, "Donna is one of the most formidable minds at Pearson Hardman. Extremely perceptive, armed with the knowledge of all the comings and goings at the firm and a razor sharp wit, Donna is admired and feared by both associates and partners alike, and she's not afraid to wield that power when it suits her needs." Kristen Dyrr of Yahoo writes an interesting piece about her in 'Suits': Who is Donna Paulsen? Donna is the heart of Suits and Harvey.
Jessica: Gina Torres is a goddess, full stop! I don't need to say more. Jessica Pearson is to Olivia Pope what Harvey Specter is to Don Draper: the definition of a powerful 21st century female leader. You do not see her in a relationship with a weak man who calls himself President of Scandal's United States of America. You actually do not see her in a relationship, even though the writers tease you with it in one episode. Now, this might not make her a round character but she's one helluva character. Now, she has got her issues: you can easily call her
Louis Litt: Louis at first will get on your nerve but you begin to appreciate his weirdness and . Louis especially shines in Season 2, Episode 16 'War' when he butts heads with Nigel, British Louis.
Daniel Hardman: the best TV villain!

'No' Point: Rachel and Mike Ross relationship –  the last two seasons' here and there was too much and Mike acts like a juvenile majority of the time. It is tiring. And their sex scene at end of season two, made to sell the show, although quite hot is inconsistent with the show and downright close to porn. Come on, Harvey is a player but you will never see him like that, even his trysts with Dana Scott are tactfully and tastefully played out.

Arrow
Synopsis: an American action-adventure television series based on the fictional character Green Arrow, a costumed crime-fighter who appears in comic books published by DC Comics. The series follows playboy billionaire Oliver Queen who, after being stranded on an island for five years, returns to fight crime and corruption with bow and arrows. Arrow premiered on October 10, 2012 on both CW in North America and CTV in Canada, on October 19, 2012 in South Africa, on October 22, 2012 in Britain and Ireland, and February 2013 on Nine Network in Australia.

Yes Points: 11 days after it premiered, CW picked up Arrow for a full season and was renewed for a second season on February 11, 2013.
Oliver Queen's banging body: the guy knows how to clean up. As you must have deduced from my above thing for Harvey, my heart palpitates for a guy who cleans up real good in a decent suit.
So not The Cape: I'm glad that my earlier skepticism about another action-adventure series was laid to rest.

No Point: you can argue that the series doesn't have the 'umph' factor. E just dey there sha!

Nashville
Synopsis: an American musical drama television series about legendary country music superstar Rayna Jaymes, AKA the  Queen of country music, whose stardom begins fading – her latest album is not selling well and her tour is playing to half empty venues –, and rising star Juliette Barnes – young and sexy best selling singer of bubble gum country. The series premiered October 10, 2012 on United States' ABC.

'Yes' Points: the series' premiere recorded over 8.93 million viewers even though the pilot had been made available on Hulu, iTunes, and ABC.com before it premiered on television. Connie Britton bagged the 2013 Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama and the 2012 Satellite Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. Hayden Panettiere received the 2013 Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film and the 2012 Satellite Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. The series was nominated for the 39th People's Choice Awards for Favorite New TV Drama and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Screenplay, and has won four Satellite Awards and the Critics' Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series.
Country music: I love country music. But even if you do not, you will still love Nashville's music and appreciate the fact that stars actually recorded original songs.
Connie Britton: Tami Taylor always will be a pleasure to watch.
Lennon and Maisy Stella: ever since watching my first Lennon and Maisy's YouTube video months ago, I fan these two adorably talented girls. Amazing voices and Maisy is just soooooooooo incredible.

'No' Point: Rayna and Teddy Conrad's marriage – wish the writers did not go there at all. You immediately start shipping Rayna and Deacon, and start plotting Rayna and Conrad's divorce. Then it hits you: there are two young girls in the status quo, and you start feeling like a terrible person for wishing that Rayna and Teddy get a divorce. Too much guilt for one series!

Burn Notice
Synopsis: with a 2011 prequel and five books, the series tells the tale of a burned spy, Micheal Weston, who, after fleeing a blown operation in Nigeria, being kidnapped and beaten, finds himself in Miami, Florida, his hometown. He wakes up to his ex-girlfriend, Fiona Glenanne, tendering to him. He sadly realizes that he has been abandoned by all his intelligence contacts, his personal assets frozen and is under continuous surveillance. Weston becomes obsessed with the desire to find out who burned him and bring the person to book. Through his adventures, family and friends draw him reluctantly into working as an unlicensed private investigator, solving people's problems to fund his personal investigation into his situation. The series premiered on June 28, 2007 on USA Network and is scheduled to seventh season premiere in the summer.

'Yes' Points: pounding and gripping tale. In 2010, the show received its first Emmy Award nomination for acting: Sharon Gless for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama. Burn Notice has also been nominated for Favorite TV Obsession at the 37th Peoples Choice Awards. The pilot episode written by Matt Nix won the Best Television Episode Teleplay 2008 Edgar Allan Poe Award, honoring the best in mystery.
The whole series: is incredible. No 'no' point!

Warehouse 13
Synopsis: U.S. television science fiction series which follows U.S. Secret Service Agents Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer as they search for supernatural artifacts for the government's secret Warehouse 13, with influences from Friday the 13th, the American-Canadian horror television series, The Series, The X-Files, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Moonlighting. The series premiered July 7, 2009 on Syfy and it's fourth season will premiere July 23, 2012.

'Yes' Points: the series premiere is Syfy's third largest debut to date, leveraging about 3.5 million viewers. In 2010, the series' composer, Edward Rogers, was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Original Main Title Theme Music. Warehouse 13 has received seven 2012 Portal Award nominations: best television series, best actor (Eddie McClintock), best actress (Joanne Kelly), best supporting actor (Saul Rubinek), best supporting actress (Allison Scagliotti), best special guest (Jaime Murray), and best episode ("Emily Lake"). It was Eddie McClintock's third straight nomination and the second nomination for Saul Rubinek and Allison Scagliotti. Warehouse 13 has been made into a novel and a five-part comic series.
H.G. Wells: Jaime Murray should be inducted to science fiction's wall of fame! She resuscitated the show, no doubt about it. After an impressive debut, Syfy's standard, the series somehow falls into a snoozefest until the arrival of H.G. Wells. Jaime Murray will also be starring in the soon-to-debut Defiance which will be shown an hour before Warehouse 13. You bet I will be binging myself on the "two hours of Jaime Murray."
Claudia Donovan: the "young, hip, brilliant techno-wiz" with her tech savvy, punk rock girl plus a bit of goth appearance will warm your heart.

'No' Point: the series dulls down at some point. But in its defense, it picks up after H.G. Wells shows up.
This recap tells it best!

Honorable Mention (Series I used to swear by but right now have no inclination to watch another episode:
Games of Throne: I only stopped watching the series after overreading the book and realizing that gloomier days are ahead. Winter is indeed coming and I only wanted to see the Winter in the book. Besides, I no longer have HBO. Yeah, that too.
Scandal: had potential at first but now is a mess. I can't stand another dose of Fritz Ghost President. He is the WORST fictional POTUS in the history of TV.
