Klout (Identifying Brand Influencers)
(10/18/11)
I have been placed in the broadcaster style. According to Klout, "I broadcast great content that spreads like wildfire. I am an essential information source in my industry. I also have a large and diverse audience that values my content." However, your klout score does not determine your influencer standing. Your Klout score is determined by your social actions such as retweets, @messages, likes, and comments and definitely not your followers/friends count. To get a high score, you need to have a lot of highly influential people engaging with you on a regular basis.
Klout also has its perks: basically free goodies you get from companies and individuals based on your score and topics of influence. For example, I was one of the first people to use Spotify when it came to US. Also, Stephen King's newest book was placed as a perk many weeks ago.
Klout allocated perks based on topics that you discuss and participate in the most. Now, I have a problem with this. Klout, sometimes, says you are influential about a weird topic. For example, I am influential about sheep, which I find weird. Whenever you see an unusual topic, just delete it and ask for +k for the other topics from your friends.
Klout is just one way to identify brand influencers for your client. To find out more, you can either join the #pr20chat tonight at 8PM EST or check my blog later as I would be blogging the discussion.
